Tapestry Residencies

Tapestry Workshop / Artist - in - Residency / Lecture - Demonstration with Marcy Schepker
- Tapestry Weaver, Educator and Painter with Wool -
Marcy Schepker's art is building bridges between people.
Through a group process including conversation, documentation and observation we create our common picture. The individual finds its relationship to the group and the group learns to work together.
Beginning with dyed fleece we blend the colors by using the carding machine, then roll the wool, and weave it into the tapestry. Another option is to focus on recycled materials, such as sweaters, found objects, and little treasures from home.
Sessions can incorporate individual projects including action figures and smaller woven pieces. We often work out of the curriculum that students are engaged in, such as history, natural science and language arts. Each residency culminates with an assembly.
Marcy Schepker has been a weaver working with individuals and groups for 40 years. She lives with her husband and son in a shared household. Their studios provide meaningfull work for a variety of people. All are welcome.
Marcy is a state juried member of the League of New Hampshire Craftsmen, on the Roster of the New Hampshire State Council on the Arts and the Arts for All Roster."
